Safety Ovens
When working with paints, lacquers, solvents, and similar materials, the vapors in the atmosphere can exploded when heated in an oven. Blue M offers three lines of safety ovens for hazardous applications:
There are two basic classifications of hazardous atmospheres that affect chamber selection:
- Class I involves atmospheres containing flammable gases or vapors.
- Class II pertains to atmospheres containing combustible dust.
A Class 1, Group D classification identifies atmospheres that contain flammable solvents that are typically found in finishing applications. This classification means that an area contains enough Group D solvent vapors to ignite in the atmosphere.
Any electrical device or wiring used inside an oven must be contained in an enclosure that is strong enough to withstand an internal explosion, must not disintegrate, and must not allow a flame to reach the outside atmosphere. Exposed surfaces can not exceed +215 C, which is the lowest auto-ignition temperature of the Group D solvents.
